Technical Notes
Georgia Mountain Components
Below are some common questions regarding our pre-engineered wood trusses. Feel free to contact a sales or service representative with specific inquiries.
- How do I read a wood truss shop drawing?
Each of Georgia Mountain Components shop drawings are accompanied by a guide on how to read the truss shop drawings. This allows the contractor and framer to fully understand the package in order to make informed decisions on the project. If you still have questions, your sales representative can assist you.
- Can I cut a truss?
No! You should never cut any structural member of a truss! No field modifications of any type should be made without the approval of the truss manufacturer or a licensed design professional. This includes drilling holes, cutting and moving web members and metal connector plates.
- I have a floor truss in the way of some plumbing and what do I do?
Contact your representative who will provide a solution in the form of either a standard repair or custom repair sealed by an engineer.
